It's a part of life — our skin changes as we age. It becomes thinner, loses fat, and no longer looks as plump and smooth as it once did. Facial aging actually begins in your 20s, when skin firmness begins to decrease as a result of both internal (genetics and natural aging) and external (sun exposure, smoking, stress, etc.) factors.
What happens as we age?

Before your treatment it is recommended to:
AVOID: Alcohol, caffeine, Motrin, gingko biloba, garlic, flax oil, vitamin A, vitamin E, fatty acids, niacin supplements, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates (you may eat fruits), spicy foods, or cigarettes for 24 hours before your treatment. This is to reduce the incidence of bruising after these procedures.
What to expect after treatment
After your treatment, you may experience side effects, such as swelling, redness, pain, bruising, headache, tenderness, lump formation, itching at the injection site and impaired hand function. These are typically mild in severity and normally last less than 7 days.
Will the Restylane process be painful?
The procedure itself will not hurt in most cases. While it does require the use of a thin needle, there is a pain-reducing component known as lidocaine that can help relieve any pain one might feel during the procedure. We can also go over other pain relief options following the procedure.
In some cases, patients may experience some soreness in the areas of the face following the procedure. However, the soreness will dissipate fairly quickly and we can recommend certain medications to help relieve any discomfort.
How long will the process take?
The amount of time a Restylane treatment session takes will depend on the individual, the amount of Juvederm we are using and the areas of the face we are treating. In many cases, the entire appointment will only take 30-40 minutes and the patient can return to their daily routine immediately after.
When will I start to see results?
Patients will begin to see a difference after the procedure. The results vary with each individual, however with full treatment, you can see lasting results for up to 12 months with Restylane.
